Themes
In every culture all myths seem to posses similar themes or these themes seem to appear universally within various myths. Some of the commong themes are:
~ Good versus Evil - Myths are often concerned with right and wrong. They display what the societies believed was good or evil, right or wrong. In most myths, those who are good are those who protect and confort others, and are usually awarded handsomely for their good deeds, whereas those who are evil are punished in some matter.
~ Gods & Goddesses - an important role of mythology is to explain teh relationship between human beings and divine beings. Deities tend to reflect the ideals of the people who worship them and are usually exaggerated versions such as exceptional beautiful, quick-witted, strong and so on. Common types of Godds & Goddesses are Earth Mother, Solar deities, Lunar Deities, trickster, skyfather, death and rebirth.
~ Creation - many mythes in various cultures deal with the world's creation, explaining the origin of the universe, and of human beings, most creation myths begin with nothingness.
~ First Humans - some myths deal with the creation of man and how the first human became to be, and how they fell from the graces of Gods and so forth.
~ Heroic Humans - many myths deal with a mortal performing some great deed or a culture hero which is one who changes the world through a discovery or invention
~ After-life - many myths deal with the mysteries of death, ecploring the afterlife, which to this day still remains a mystery.
~ Animals - In some cultures animals play an important role, and they can play roles from a messanger to guides, which displays our ancestors respect for nature
